Remote Programming & Range Issues
Remote Range Problems
Reduced remote range is one of the most common customer complaints. The remote works close to the garage but not from the driveway.
Remote-Side Causes
Weak battery - most common cause
Damaged antenna on the remote
Internal damage from drops or moisture
Receiver-Side Causes
Antenna wire not fully extended or damaged
LED bulb interference in the opener
Receiver board fault or failing components
Programming Failures
When a remote will not program:
- Verify the remote is compatible with the opener model
- Follow the exact programming sequence - timing is critical
- Check the learn button on the opener for proper LED response
- Clear all remotes and reprogram from scratch
- Try a different remote to isolate the problem to the remote or receiver
Antenna Check
The opener's antenna wire should hang straight down from the motor unit. If it is coiled up, tucked against the ceiling, or cut short, remote range will be significantly reduced. Extending it properly often resolves range complaints.
Reduced remote range is most often caused by a weak battery or a coiled/damaged antenna wire on the opener. Check these two items before investigating more complex causes. Always verify remote compatibility before attempting programming.
